You’ve lost someone you love. This may be a friend, a family member, a pet, or an unborn child. Any loss, even the loss of a job or a relationship, may be more easily healed with a ceremony of recognition, honoring and acknowledging the life lost, the space left, and celebrating with gratitude the time shared.
In preparation for your memorial, I will talk with you in person or by phone to determine what kinds of things are meaningful to you in the context of saying farewell. I will inquire about your preferences for readings, poetry, music, and other acknowledgements, as well as research diligently to find things that fit your needs.
I will structure a specific ceremony and send/give it to you for your approval.
I will officiate such a ceremony, from conducting all elements to simply “emceeing” as others read and speak, and any level of participation in between, as needed.
In doing all of the above, it is most important to me to hear what you deeply need in order to have closure.
This type of ceremony does not have to happen immediately following someone’s death, or in the city where s/he died. A farewell ceremony such as this can take place years later, or where you live and are unable to attend a service held far away. If your heart is heavy and you feel the need for a formal farewell, please contact me so that we might seek out what you need to say good-bye.
